Customer Highlight:

Selectron is always looking for ways to help local governments provide essential services to their communities, but few stories exemplify this mission as well as our partnership with Pierce Transit in Pierce County, Washington.

Pierce County covers an expansive geographical area, and Pierce Transit’s fixed-route buses and paratransit transportation provide vital mobility for residents. Residents of Pierce County, particularly those who are elderly or disabled and qualify for paratransit, rely on these services for grocery shopping, doctor’s visits and other essential trips. However, the volume and on-demand nature of the service forced Pierce Transit employees to field hundreds of thousands of calls per year. In addition to answering these inbound calls, staff also placed phone calls to customers in order to communicate pickup times and other details.

By providing trip reminders and real time vehicle arrival times using Selectron’s Relay Outbound solution, Pierce Transit was able to reduce the number of no-shows and incoming “where’s my ride” calls, freeing up staff to focus on providing a higher level of service. Selectron worked extensively with Pierce Transit’s database provider (StrataGen) to integrate the outbound solution with their transit schedule, ensuring customers got their confirmations and reminders in real time. Pierce Transit provides a crucial service that many county residents rely on for their day-to-day needs, and Selectron is proud to have partnered with them to provide a Trusted Solution and Real Value to their community.
